Constructing Power Plant Mannheim

One of the most modern and efficient coal-fired power plants in the world is being built in Mannheim-Neckarau. The main Heberger consortium together with Bilfinger and Berger, Züblin and Diringer & Scheidel were entrusted with the building of the infrastructure as part of the modernisation of this power plant park.

The Mannheim power plant’s Block 9 major project started in July under the business management of Heberger and the technical management of Diringer&Scheidel.
35,000m² of roads are planned, 7,500 running meters of drainage piping (StB DN 300-800,) 35,000 running meters of cable conduits (DN 160) and 75 cable ducts, as well as 8,000 running meters of water pipes.

13 excavators, 7 wheel loaders, 2 12t compactors as well as a pile driver are being used for this building project. The project will be finished in approx. 4 years in cooperation with experienced site managers, project managers, business people and commercial staff. Start-up is then planned for the end of 2013.
